Glossary
Agentic AI
AI systems capable of taking multi-step, goal-directed actions without continuous human intervention.
Agentic AI refers to AI systems that can autonomously pursue goals by taking multiple sequential actions across different tools and systems — without requiring a human to intervene between each step.
Core Agentic Capabilities
- Multi-step planning — breaking down complex requests into sub-tasks.
- Tool use — executing commands against CRMs, calendars, databases, and APIs.
- State tracking — remembering decisions and intermediate results across steps.
- Adaptive decision-making — adjusting the plan based on outcomes.
Beyond Chatbots
Traditional chatbots answer questions. Agentic AI systems take action: schedule appointments in a calendar system, update CRM records, send follow-up emails, and execute complex workflows without human approval at each step.
Voice Agent Example
When a caller books an appointment with an agentic voice agent, the system simultaneously checks availability calendars, reserves a slot, updates the CRM contact record, and triggers an email confirmation — all in one conversation without the caller hanging up.
