Power Dialer

An automated dialing system that dials the next number as soon as an agent becomes available, eliminating idle time.

Power dialer is an automated outbound calling technology that eliminates idle time between calls. As soon as an agent finishes one call and logs into the dialer, the system immediately dials the next number from the list and connects the call to the agent — typically within 1-2 rings.

How Power Dialers Maximize Efficiency

  • Agents never wait for the next number to dial; they move from call to call continuously.
  • Typical power dialer agents handle 60-120 dials per hour, vs. 30-40 for manual dialing.
  • Cost per contact is 40-60% lower than preview dialers or manual dialing.

TCPA Compliance Challenges

Power dialers dial one-to-one with agents, so they avoid the abandoned-call penalty that predictive dialers face. However, they still require:

  • Prior express written consent for calls to cell phones.
  • DNC list scrubbing before every campaign.
  • Accurate caller ID information.

Agent Experience

Power dialers maximize throughput but can lead to agent fatigue and call quality issues. Agents rushing between calls may miss important details or be less empathetic.

AI Voice Agents as Alternative

Instead of dialing and connecting to human agents, organizations increasingly use AI voice agents in outbound mode: the system dials, the AI agent (not human) conducts the call. This eliminates agent fatigue, reduces TCPA risk (no abandoned calls), and increases throughput 10-100x.
